Taif
As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. -Psalm 48:8 ESV
Viewpoint: Taif is a mountain city set in the Hijaz range of western Saudi Arabia. Once called “The Garden of the Hijaz,” the area is known for its fruit, roses, parks and gardens. Many Saudis visit Taif in the summer to enjoy its temperate climate and mountain scenery.
Although its population is only around 600,000 in the western region, Taif has become an important city. Its location near Mecca and Jeddah, its status as a tourist destination, and its construction plans for a new “technology oasis” make it a potential point of influence for Saudis from all over the kingdom.
Prayer points: Pray that many Christ-followers will come to Taif, as visitors or residents, and that God will open doors for them to share the gospel with Saudis there. Ask that a Saudi community of faith will be established in Taif. Pray that the gospel will spread, like the fragrance of Taif’s roses, from Taif to other areas of the kingdom.
